Your Musical Laboratory
Step 1: Explore Your Workspace
Welcome to your very own musical laboratory! Before you start writing your first masterpiece, you need to know how to use your tools. Don't worry, there are no tests here and nothing to memorize. This is all about exploring!
Your workspace is divided into three special zones:
- The Color-Coded Keyboard (Your instrument)
- The Control Panel (Your mission control)
- The Composition Module (Where your music comes to life!)
You can interact with everything by playing the keys, pressing buttons, and watch the music you write appear like magic right before your eyes!
Step 2: The Magic Six Keys
You will see many keys on the piano, but your musical journey starts with six special keys. They are easy to find because they are color-coded!
You might wonder: "Why only six?" It's because these six keys are like a secret shortcut. They allow you to play beautiful melodies and famous songs much faster while you are learning!
Look for the names printed on the keys, play the blue keys, then play the white keys, and listen to how they sound together.
When you are done playing, press the STEP 3 button in the app to continue.
Step 3: The Command Center
Above your keyboard is the Control Panel. This is your "Mission Control" where you can make big things happen!
The Step Buttons (Teleporters): See the buttons on the left? These are like teleporters! Instead of scrolling up and down, you can just press a STEP button to jump straight to the information you need.
The Compose Button (The Magic Switch): When you are ready to start writing music, press COMPOSE. This turns on the Composition Module. Now, every time you play a key, and watch as the app magically adds each note to your very own composition!
The Show Me Button (The Playback Button): Once you have finished your song, press SHOW ME and listen to your masterpiece come to life!
Scroll down to the Command Center and try the buttons!
Mentor Note: Because this is a web-based tool, refreshing or closing the page will reset the workspace and clear any active compositions. While we will introduce permanent saving features as melodies become more complex in later modules, we recommend taking a photo or screenshot to preserve these early musical milestones. Please note that using the 'Step' buttons to navigate within this page is perfectly safe and will not reset your progress.
Step 4: The Music Map
The Composition Module is your musical recorder! This is the part of the app that captures your notes so you can build a beautiful song. It is designed to let you be the composer. Don't worry about how it works just yet! We have a whole module coming up that will teach you everything you need to know!
Look closely at the shapes. They are arranged in a special way: eight shapes on the top line, and seven shapes on the bottom line.
It might look like a puzzle right now, but don't worry! In our next lessons, we will teach you how to read this "Music Map" so you can become a master composer.
